Review from Ci Ti Ti

Hello dear talented photographers,
°Caroline NH , tes splendides bouquets auront à coup sûr
l'approbation immédiate de ma mère qui aime toutes les
fleurs et les couleurs vibrantes dont le rose,ce rose-là !
°Caro NH,Caro TD,Thanh Van, MCi, Biti,
Sonny, Tuan,Thuan,Doug,
CTT

To all talented photographers' of the forum,

I just now had the pleasure to view all of your pictures.  I really enjoyed all of them.  Few thoughts: Duc's The Dragon caught everyone in their moment, natural without posing from an interesting low angle; MC is very resourceful and thoughtful with her dua hau picture, it has the feel of a painting; CTT's tien li` xi`under the Buddha bust is also creative and artistic in my opinion; Caro's flowers and colors are just gorgeous; Tuan's picture of the children's all dressed up in white in a vintage sport car is trulythe quintessential small town parade on main street, USA, except all are asians with a da^`u la^n on the hood (the new America); and last but not least Son and Bao's pictures certainly captured the street scenes' Tet spirit and hectic pace ; Biti, I could not see your pix for some reasons, the email was blank L, can you resend to me? thanks.

The added bonus for me was all the sharp and witty comments by all.  Cheers and keep shooting.

Khiem

PS Dear MC, I'm back out in the field of cotton and middle of nowhere with nothing red J, so haven't had a chance to shoot any good pix L

Review by CTT's mom

Hi dear friends,

Are you ready to hear my mum's verdict ?
I showed her your incredible work this
afternoon and here are what she was thinking:
1° " All perfect, all good " she loved hoa mai,
and the vivid scenes and atmosphere of cho Têt,
the Dragon danse, and the children dressed up.
That concerns TNS, Bao,Tuan, Thuan,Doug.

2° Mai Chau
" Mỹ thuât ! Sao không chup con bé nào ăn
dưa hâu' cho vui ? " ( !?!? )

3° Bao Trâm ( elle salue au passage tes soeurs) :
" Hoa đào và bup' bê trào trộn, đỏ, hồng tươi thắm.
Hay !

4° Mine has received some blame :
" Phải tội lòi mắt ! Dám để tiền lì xì duoi mũi Phât !!!"

That's it. Hope to see you smile.

Review from our NY friends

Hello Mai Chau

Very well said, in a very provocative fashion, no less, telling things like they are, with personal observations from your own perspective, without being judgemental
Thanh Tu mom's comments are quite funny, if not relevant, as the independent voice of a kinder, gentler outsider, with the last say :-)
So, a well deserving round of applause goes to all the participants, for taking the time and effort, to contribute, each in his, her own special ways, to a funfilled event, with no strings attached
All in the spirit of great friendship and mutual respect
Keep up the good work, guys and gals, as this is just the beginning
Work it, Work it !!!!
So goes the motto

I love all the entries, and of course the compliments to all of us.

Thanh Tu', I agree with Thanh Va^n regarding Ba'c's kind "verdict".
Now I also know where your sharp sense of observation and wittiness come from.
Could you please thank Ba'c for me, and tell her that I had the same idea as hers at first (les grands esprits se rencontrent :-)) .  I thought of asking con be' Mai Ha^n, i.e. my daughter to bite into the du+a ha^'u so I could take a picture.
But it would be a very difficult, if not impossible task, since she claimed that she was allergic to it, it made her mouth itch!!!!
The only other con be'..gia (old) in the house was Mai Cha^u. It would not work either: not only I did not know how to do self portrait, a photo of me biting into the dua+ ha^'u (!?!?!) would certainly not project any happy feeling.
We should ask Ba'c to be the permanent judge for our project.

We still have a few more days to go before the end of the week, so more entries to come, I hope from Khie^m, Trang, Hy Hoa and Trie^'t (yes, you Triet. You can ask con be'... Phuong Anh to pose for you in her red outfit, if you don't have time to think of anything... just like all of us :-), and other friends who own a camera.

On a more personal note: first, thank you Quang, TNS, BT for your sweet compliments on my entry.
Secondly, thanks Thanh Tu' for declaring that there is no deadline on entries for nude photos, and Thuan for continuing to be patiently impatient :-). I will keep trying, under the guidance of my twin.
BT, I agree, I have to do better, why don't you show me how :-)

Goodnight

Fwd: [MC74 and Friends] My entry for our Forum's photos of the weekproject - this week project RED and TE^'TTu

Hi all,

Since the spirit of Tet is still here with us, I am submitting a late entry celebrating the red color of Tet. This is my daughter Xuan-Uyen, photo taken Christmas 2007, when she was 4.

You can tell that I am an amateur 3e classe when it comes to photographie.

Dear Bi Ti, Em Ci, Ci Ti Ti and friends,

Wow, so many unread emails (90+) from the forum in just a few days.  But first thing first, you're right Em Ci, my excuse was lame.  I decided to heed your advice, take the female approach, think out of the box, and plan my shots.  It means that I had to leave the barren West Texas desert, travelled a thousand miles in search for a worthy subject, something red, preferrably oriental with a Tet theme, and very pleasing on the eyes.  And in that diligent quest over the weekend, during a lunch break, I caught at the corner of my eye a delightful feminine, and well, very eye catching crimson silhouette.  I immediately grabbed my P&S camera, and clicked away...  Here she is, hope you like the result J.

Needless to say, we exchanged greetings, glasses, and became buddies J

CUNG CHUC TAN XUAN !!!

Dear friends,

Here is my entry to this week photo thingy and the story behind it :-)

Quince flowers , they are different from our hoa dao and hoa mai but
I love them just as much as they always remind me of Tet.

And the story of the girl who stole the quince flowers goes like this ...

Early in the morning (well ... not really early :-)) she ran around the neighborhood looking for quince. She knew she's seen them before, she wanted so much to complete her 1st assignment ... and ... she found them... a splendid bush blooming in fire red blossoms ...and it's that edge of the road ... the house is way way back ... so she thought it's ok isn't it to snip just a little branch for Tet? :-)  She loves this killing-2-birds-things-at-a-time you know :-)

And now you get to meet her (and all this time you thought it was me? shame on you!)

She is a kimekomi doll. Kimekomi  doll-making dates back to the 18th century.
It is believed that while working at the Kamo Shrine in Kyoto, a thrifty monk crafted one out of fabric scraps and willow tree wood.

So now you know about Kimekomi and another one of my old hobby :-)
She was made with love and long manual labour (not the kind you are thinking of :-))
about 8 years ago. She has lots of brothers and sisters whom you might meet when I run out of 'de tai' ;-P

Have a good one,
BT

MC, TNS, Bao, Tuan, thank you!  Your photos make me decide to join the fun, too.  May i send in, something red, in my corner of the world, ready for Tet!

My dear twin BT, CTT, Doc Awake, Khiem, and Forum friends,

Here is my contribution.

(CTT, my bikini photo does not count, as it was solely for the two persons in the Forum who I know wholeheartedly appreciate it, BT and Doc Awake :-)).

Since I could not go to NYC Chinatown in search for the perfect photo op, and my fellow New Yorker and most eligible bachelor Quang ignored my subtle cry for help (may be I should have offered him mot chau pho in exchange for his help),
I resigned to use what I had at home, something that is red and green, with "un peu de me'lange de couleurs", and evokes Tet.

My memory of my Te^' childhood is excitement of a new year coming, wanting to be a year older (so I could be "mot thieu nu" faster and get to do things that my older siblings were allowed to do), going to the flowers market with my Mom, smelling the fragrances of hoa mai, hoa dao, hoa thuoc duoc, greeting guests coming to our house, getting li xi and then going with our parents to visit the same guests (!), and playing cards with my brothers friends, watching the wrapping of banh chung, savouring lots of yummy foods,.nibbling non stop on "hat dua", and last but not least eating a lot of du+a ha^u'.

To me, du+a ha^u' is the perfect fruit that symbolizes Te^t with its colors; it also is the perfect fruit to quench our thirst during the sunny and warm days of Te^t. I remember one Te^'t, it was particularly very hot, so I ate a lot of du+a ha^'u, so much so that I ran a fever ! I also love the fairy tale behind du+a ha^'u, one of my kids favorite bedtime stories.

So here it is, my photo of my favorite fruit for Te^'t.

Have a restful and enjoyable Sunday.
From a white and cold Be^n bo So^ng, NJ,
MC

PS:
Thank you CTT for starting the idea.
BT and Khie^m, thanks again and again :-) for getting me to start taking photos, and to tell me to keep taking more. I am having so much fun, I even ventured into using manual mode, at my son's suggestion, to shoot my pictures today. Of course the subject was very patient with me :-), allowing me to push it around, so I can play with the light and the buttons, try and retry many many times. As my yoga teacher kept reminding us, it is not the end result that counts, it is taking pleasure in the process leading to it...

PPS: Doc Awake, sorry for your minor disappointment, the ba'nh chu+ng part was inadvertently cropped, so was my head. Next time...:-)
