Re: [MC74 and Friends] My photo entries for this week theme SHOES

I have 2 photos for this week again.

The first one is ... His and Hers :-)

The second is  A zori stori :-)

These zori, a gift from my friend Jamie, remind me of the time when I loved everything japanese :-)

One day, we learned how to wear the kimono and obi

how to carry the fan and dance the many steps for the Bon Ondori

(not an easy thing in a kimono :-))

and we danced  in memory

of her sister whose zori I still have.
.. Jamie rather wears her Jimmys

Hi Quang,
It's funny that you mention " running bare feet "
How many times have I done ? From the center
to home, I have to go through the old town ,the
heel aigu got stuck between the pavers,
I took my shoes in hand then and deliberately went
home, to the amusement of the passersby
Dear Emci,Biti,& friends,
I know,I know, the quota is amplified, exceeded.

Dear twin Biti, CiTiTi, H2, Thu Huong, Trang, Khanh' Liem, Khie^m, TNS, Thuan, Duc, Triet, and other pho' nhoms, and last but not least our very gentle and kind judge  Mr. Kiu,

To counter attack chie^'n dich "so^' ddo^ng dde\ ngu*o*i\" by Doc Awake or to quote his partner in crime TNS, "la^'y thit de\ ngu*o*i\, I am submitting three entries for this week's theme (having connection in high places -i.e. ba\ chu? blog, guarantees that my entries will not be rejected :-)).

I suggested "shoes" to Thanh Tu' just to pull her Tina Turner's legs, but "ga^y. ba\ dda^p. lu*ng ba\". When not sure how I would come up with an idea for my entry, I tried to retract my suggestion, my twin unknowingly decided that we should go ahead with it ! :-)

To quote CiTiTi, "ket. qua'" , I was still debating which ones of my shoes deserve to be posted on the blog and how to make it a little interesting, when CiTiTi, as fast as a rabbit in her Louboutin (which she claimed hurt her feet so much that she had to go buy another...Louboutin :-)) came up with her great photo shoot of her Karen Miller and BR slippers (and just now another beautiful photo of black and white shoes on the piano keys!). There went my plan!

Then I remembered on Monday that I had taken this picture of antique slippers at Pan Jia Yuan flea market in Beijing last summer. That's it! No need to walk around in search for my subject. Here is my first entry, entitled SOLES FROM THE PAST.

However, on Tuesday morning, after dropping off Mai Ha^n at her school, and as I was walking to the bus stop, vu*a\ di vu*a\ ngam' tro*i\, nhi\n ma^y (just like my twin BiTi), I saw a pair of black sneakers up high on a tree. Quickly, out came my camera for my second entry with its title CLIMBING TREES, to contribute to our blog.

Looking at the two pictures together, I found them quite contrasting. To me they sort of symbolized the evolution in the way women lived their lives from that far past to now;  from the small and delicate, beautifully embroidered slippers of ancient China, whose bound feet owners could not even stand in them without help from their servants, here we are, the sporty black sneakers in which the modern New York woman could walk, jog and even climb trees. Also, I could not help myself but thinking how lucky we are that we can walk, dance or run whether barefoot or in sneakers, slippers or high heels!

My last picture with the title THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING, is dedicated to CiTiTi with her Aladdin cave of 500 shoes and counting :-), and who shared with us the song "These boots are made for walking" last week.
I was walking around in Madison Square Park on Thursday afternoon after dropping Mai Han off at the movie theater with her friend
(and killing time, waiting to meet up with my two good MCP 74 male friends for dinner - a meeting that did not take place. I ended up eating "rabbit stew cooked a la francaise" at  at a Turkish restaurant ! :-). I will not reveal their identity, but they know who they are :-)) when I saw this dog walking by in red boots. It immediately brought to my mind the song "these boots are made for walking" in the version sung by Nancy Sinatra with her red boots, in 1966. I guess because it was the first version of the song I heard when I was growing up, it got stuck in my head.
Looking at the dog, I also wondered, if CiTiTi had a dog, would it be wearing Gucci flat boots? :-).

Here is the Nancy Sinatra's version for you to enjoy:

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] Last week and to wrap this week up

Hi BiTi,

Wait! before you wrap up, here is my second entry for this week. I am trying very hard to match the number of entries coming from Thuan and TNS  :-).
This photo was taken along the little river that passed through Zhou Zhuang, and gave a much better idea of how it looked like than my other entry.

Your spring tabblo with my favorite color is beautiful. I like all the photos from the beginning to the end, and also the little story that came with them.

I liked the video clip and the song (although I found the song melancholic). Thanks for sharing.

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] Re: week photo subject -- Ocean, lake, river, bathtub water :-)

Dear CiTiTi, friends pho nhom en herbe et al,

I have 2 pics to contribute this week.  The first one is of the 'other Venice'  inspired by my lovely twin.

Venice is definitely one of my favorite cities in the world, especially at Carnivale time as my friend Dolly "-) would attest to as she's always ready to go again year after year.   One year, it snowed while we were there, we woke up in the morning to see the bridges and gondolas covered in white, it was magical ... I also like Venice  in the early evening when the fog just sets in and the reverberes cast their dusty pink on the city.

I called this second photo  " What a life " :-) It was taken from the Vial Del'Amore the cliff walk between Riomaggiore and Manarola.

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] Re: week photo subject -- Ocean, lake, river, bathtub water :-)

Dear all,

Wow, so many email messages, so little time! Thanks to BT and MC's excellent idea, I have the blog to thank for and to catch up on all the beautiful pictures and painting as well as music contributions. BT, I'm so glad you added the Playlist feature, what a thoughtful idea for sharing music. Love the song from Keith Urban (what a mane of hair!), as well as the cute one from Taylor Swift. That song is a favorite of my grand daughters, and I always play it on my iPod for them whenever they're in the car with me (albeit not very often, as they're in faraway CA) as a treat, so we can all sing along at the top of our lungs over and over w/o driving their parents crazy :-)

For C&W music fans and to add to BT's homage to the Texans, here's another song by Keith Urban (who's not Texan btw), a bit old but dreamy...
My favorite song (for the time being anyway) is the following

MC, your picture of Zhouzhuang is so pretty with its reflections of purple and blue boat roofs and green trees. Zhouzhuang is such a neat and pretty little town that any photos of its picturesque bridges, canals, boats, and houses are bound to be attractive (except when it's crowded by tourists, which seemed to this tourist to be all hours of the day!), but yours is truly artistic.

Thu Huong, your watercolors are so beautiful and elegant as always. I wish I could look at them all day, and am thinking of a way to make the seagull picture my (laptop) wallpaper...

BT, your Valentine contribution, Zoey's adorable pictures, is worthy of a Valentine's Day card. You should market it! And other friends' countless contributions, from TNS' peaceful backyard corner to Thuan's lush and lovely Japanese garden and a nice sunset here and there (Montreux, Huntington), all bring pleasure to this (woefully infrequent) reader. And Tuan really shows his talent with his drawings of the lovely queen-of-hearts CTT and Texan LH. Vous m'eblouissez tous chaque fois!

Herewith are my contributions toward the theme of the week, two old pictures from our trip to Hamilton Island in Queensland, Australia during Christmas 2008. Sorry, I can't choose, so forum friends please choose for me the one you like and make that my entry for the water theme.

Have a great Valentine's Day!

Trang
