no it's not a table, and ... it's a kind of box, all right , in the sense that it is empty inside. the feet show that someone is lying face down ; and the ropes has something to do with that notion
Could this empty box, with the loosening rope, a symbolic act of liberation, an end to aparthied, the racial segregation of white and non whites, that was practiced in South Africa, for so long ?
The feet, as a result of the historic event, now can move as freely as they please, not so restricted as before
Highly interesting : In your poetic way, you are approaching the truth like a helicopter : from above and ... without direct visibility òf the landing grounds :) "a symbolic act of liberation" : yes, liberation yes, but I would say, cathartic liberation, of pulsions rather than conquest of freedom. Somehow, it shows that freedom of the ones is slavery of the others...
"The feet, as a result of the historic event, now can move as freely as they please, not so restricted as before " : no, definitely not. at this non-historic events, the poor wretch, as you can see, is pinned face down in the dirt, from the position of the feet...

Hi all, here is the ...(drum roll) ... DRUM with drumsticks tied by ropes to the drum. The enemies of the Braves after they were vanquished and subducted as slaves were put face down and ... " đét đít " ! This was carried on symbolically as their skins are used as drum membranes and sticks will hammer on the drum surface as they lie face down.

It must be a wooden little figurine which has a carving of 2 little feet; or a part of a wooden decoration for the table?
ReplyDeleteCheers, Liem

The rope and the iron legs on the sides should be some hints to you, this pic was taken in a bank lounge in Pretoria, South Africa.
