Dear Bi Twin, fellow PNEHs, painters, poets, Mai Quang and Forum friends,
I am submitting some more collages of photos taken at Hell's kitchen Flea Market, Manhattan for MARKET. One can easily spent a few hours there looking (in my case, taking photos) at the widely varied assortment of wares, from Kenyan necklaces to Tibetan beaded jewelry, to antique saddle, pink velvet art deco armchair, to crystal chandeliers and crystal adorned leather bangles, etc...
In the first collage, the vintage clothes, scarves, hats are from the The Store With No Walls and the owner was the cheerful man with the stack of dollars bills in his hands. He volunteered to model for me to my delight and wanted to pay me with one of the vintage hats from his shop - it would have been my first and without a doubt, last earning from my career as a PNEH. The beaded necklaces and the big necklace and belt on the black mannequin were from the store called Tibet Jewelry. The lady owner was so sweet she let me stand there a long time to take photos of the statues, stones and jewelry.
Got to go now. I have to read my camera manual (no more procrastination!!!) in preparation for my first photography class tomorrow. It's a field composition workshop. I am going with Mai Han and am really looking forward to it. My instructor is a young man whose field is documentary photography (some of his photos are quite heavy stuff. All of the photos, except pictures of rock music concerts, carry some sort of social messages). Mai Han read his bio and said he is a year younger than my son Chuong. We will be walking around Grand Central Station. I cannot wait to learn a lot from my instructor, and have some nice bonding time with... (sorry BiTi and little sis, it's not what you think. I know what you gonna say :-)) Mai Han.

Thank you BiTi Babiii; I am glad you like the collages! It's a chandelier in the second photo.
DeleteAbout the owner of the SWNH, he was very nice and talkative to everybody and my camera got him really excited. He was bouncing around making funny Kung Fu moves in front of my camera.

Dear MC and All:
ReplyDeleteI like the fellow in the center of the first collage, his jolly and funny facial expression... Seems like he is ready for some great give-away promotion. His Kong-Fu posturing is grabbing... I just keep guessing what would be his next move. I see some good color arrangement and harmony in your second photo.
MC, Also good luck with your coming composition workshop !

MAI CHAU OI , ENJOY YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS WITH MAI HAN ! THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL COLLAGES . THE NECKLACES ARE A SPLENDOR BIZ HL
ReplyDeleteThank you KP and HL for your nice comments.
ReplyDeleteKP, the man was indeed very funny with his Bruce Lee's moves, jumping in the air and chopping.
HL, these necklaces and the Kenyan ones were gorgeous. I was so tempted :-) Next time you and BiTi visit, we should go to this weekend flea market, it is in Midtown, not far from Times Square.

MAI CHAU , THE W.E. FLEA MARKET IS NOT AN OCCASIONAL MARKET ? ??? SO WE DID MISS SOMETHING ONE MORE TIME ? Hihihi
