The hanging things are Yak cheese pieces. Since this unprocessed cheese is very hard, the local people would chew them instead of using them for cooking. The Bhutanese people eat cheese and chilies as their basic daily food. About the fruits, I was told they can grow apples but most of their fruits and produce are imported from India.
