Dear 2 ba chu blog, fellows PNEH, hoa si, thi si, friends,
What a difference a week or two make. I was wandering the streets of Opera in Paris with friends just yesterday it seems. Today it’s back to be a lonesome cowboy riding the streets of Dallas L. To contrast with the grand traditional architecture of Europe, below is a picture of the recently completed 2200 seat Windpear Opera House in Dallas designed by Norman Foster. I certainly can’t do justice to the beauty of the facility so here’s the link that will provide a much better overall view (http://www.wayfaring.info/2009/12/10/winspear-opera-house/).
And since I’m a lonesome cowboy without “Jolly Jumper”, I have to drive around town looking for one. Luckily, I found a bunch. They’re called “The Mustangs of Las Colinas”. Las Colinas is a suburb just outside of Dallas where many companies are headquartered, e.g. ExxonMobil, Fluor, etc.
Enjoy and have a great holiday weekend everyone !

Howdy Mr. Lucky Luke and thanks for the JIT photos,
ReplyDeleteand las Colinas is where U of Dallas is, I remember my 1st experience
driving on icy roads in las Colinas, not to mention walking up from the
dorm to cafeteria slipping and sliding ... a wonder that I am still
here today :-)

ReplyDeletewe enjoy seeing you guys’ pictures from Paris a lot!
What a lucky group of MC Friends!!
Specially “cây kiếm giữa rừng hoa”
Liem
Hello Khanh Liem
ReplyDelete"Ca^y Kie^m giua rung hoa"
What a fitting description, a poetic tribute to Khiem, the Midnight Cowboy,
the lonesome action hero, in a very romantic setting ever known as Paris
The visual portrayal of Lucky Luke, the imagery of coolness under fire,
on his mark, is as alluring as it exciting
Which brought back, to our days of innocence when great, colorful, witty "bande dessinees" such as Lucky Luke, Asterix ... were our main sources of joyful entertainments that stimulated our minds, expanded our horizons
Have a Great, Happy long Memorial Weekend, everyone !!!!
Quang
Hi Khiem!
ReplyDeleteIt is excellent "the mustangs of las colinas"...The horses look so real ! Nice shot you have here.
Quang and Liem...
Khong phai? Kiem mà là : Gu*o*m La. Giua ~ Ru*ng Hoa....
It sounds much better and more poetic...
BL
Hello Be Lan
ReplyDelete"Guom La." sounds so Funny,
but "Guom Lac." surely is a lot more Poetric, visually Exciting :-)
Quang
I mean : Guom Lac giua rung hoa...
ReplyDeleteBL
Hello BLan, KLiem, BiTi, Quang, Khiem t.c. and friends:
ReplyDeleteIt's true that the term "gu*o*m" is used more often than "kie^'m" in the Vietnamese literature, some instances I can think of:
In Truyen Kieu, ta? Tu*`-Ha?i:
Giang-ho^` quen tho'i va^~y-vu`ng
Gu*o*m da`n nu*?a ga'nh, non so^ng mo^.t che`o.
In Chinh-Phu. Nga^m-Khu'c, ta? ngu*o*`i trai anh-hu`ng:
Tha`nh lie^`n mong tie^'n be^. ro^`ng
Thu*o*'c gu*o*m da~ quye^'t cha<?ng dung gia<.c tro*i`
Even in more modern poems, like this one by Xuan-Dieu ( I think):
Nhan-sa<'c tro*`i o*i bie^'t no'i sao
Ngu*o*`i hie^`n nhu* bo^.t co' gu*o*m dao
Xa-xo^i ma` go*.i nie^`m tha^n-ma^.t
Ga^`n-gu~i song le va^~n bie^.t-ra`o.
Despite being synonyms, I think "kie^'m" sounds tougher and stronger, and KLiem's use of "kie^'m" in this case is a good choice, definitely appropriate, given the man she was referring to, the tough, strong, debonair Midnight Cowboy K.t.c. -:)
