Fw: [MC74 and Friends] announcement to PNEHs -Theme for next week

Hello 2 ba chu

Since I returned from Asia, I have been submerged in work from dawn till the wee hours, and didn't have time for any relaxation... Yep, living up to my motto, work hard play hard! I'm catching my breath this week-end and am sending you belatedly another entry on time device taken at the Janta Mantar in Jaipur. It an observatory built by a Maharaja in the 18th century, with many geometric devices for measuring time, predicting eclipses and tracking stars location as the earth orbits around the sun.
The instruments are huge structures. In one of the photos, there's the Samrat Yantra, the largest sundial in the world standing 27 meters tall and one can see the shadow moving at 1 mm per second... pretty amazing feat!

Cheers
Caro

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] announcement to PNEHs -Theme for next week

BiTi,

Here's an entry for CLOCKS, WATCHES, or ANY INSTRUMENT THAT HELPS ONE KEEPING TRACK OF TIME that skips over all the words except "time".  If you think it's unacceptable, feel free to set it aside.  You won't hurt my feelings; but TNS's feelings, that I don't know.:-)

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] my last entries for Statues

Dear twin, fellow PNEHs, painter, poets, Mai Quang and Forum friends,

Here are my last entries for STATUES.
The first one was taken in Bruges last year. The blue color of the sky was so striking the day we visited Bruges, as you could see in the photo.
The picture of the statue of the lion in front of the NY Public Library was taken just this  Monday.

Goodnight and have a nice Friday

More Statues

Dear Em Ci and fellow PNEHs,

I went digging into my photo archive a-la-mode-de-Be-Lan
and here's what i came up for more statues :-)

1. Calm and Serenity vs. Global Death and Destruction

From Stanford Cantor Arts Center Collection: a Ming Dynasty
Bronze Buddha (each lotus leaf is a Bo Tat) - a picture of
calm and senerity in contrast to Robert Arneson "Global Death and
Destruction" with a nuclear mushroom cloud on its base (which I didn't
capture in this photo)

2. Bac Trung Nam

3. and from my recent trip to Dallas
-  Pioneer 1 and 2

Cheers,
BT

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] my entries for Clocks, Watches

Dear Bi Twin, fellow PNEHs, painters, poets, Mai Quang, and Forum friends,

As mentioned yesterday to Hien Lan and BiTi, I went on a trek at lunch time in search of clocks to submit to the blog.
First stop was Grand Central Station where I took pictures of the famous clock at the central information booth.
Then I got out of GCT, and walked along 42nd Street towards 5th Avenue. On my way, I saw another clock in front of Nat
Sherman cigars store, so I took a few more photos. As I was about to leave, I noticed a little travel clock displayed behind the store window. I had a hard time taking its picture due to the sunlight reflection, so I asked a delivery man who was standing near by if he would be kind enough to position himself to block the reflection for me :-)
Then I made a bee line to the Public Library on 5th Avenue to look for more clocks but got distracted by the statues of the lions, and then finally realized that I still had to get some lunch and go back to work, so the Library clocks will have to wait for another day.
On my way back I saw TNS's clock and was tempted to take a picture, but decided to wait for HL and BiTi so we could all take its photo together.
Here are my entries...

Goodnight and have a nice Wednesday

RE: [MC74 and Friends] CLocks & Watches

Hi Bao Tram, Mai Chau, Caro & PHEH friends,

Caro,  I like the exquisite details of the Huntington Library clock very much!
This is a French clock circa 1760, more modest, from my small collection of French antiques.

Cheers,

Tuan

Following Caro's footsteps, here are my 2 entry for watches
