Dear MC,

As Hien Lan said, vua len tieng la bi doi no ngay :-)! Your wish is my command, so here forthwith are my submissions for Signs/Billboards, to be followed soon by those for Fall/Halloween. All carry some meaning for me.

1) Funnel Cakes stand on OC Boardwalk (funnel cakes are one of my favorite guilty pleasures, nothing but fried dough with sugar - so bad for you yet oh so good!)

2) Sign over Crabby Dick Restaurant (what can I say?)

3) Billboard at Nationals Park (going to the annual simulcast of the grand opening of the Washington National Opera, an event called Opera in the Outfields, is one of our favorite fall traditions)

Re: [MC74 and Friends] announcement to PNEHs - Trees and Street scenes

Hi MC and BT,

Thanks to Picasa, I was able to find some old pictures for my entries for Trees, which I took when we were visiting Siem Reap a few years ago. I loved the majestic trees growing out of the Ta Prohm ruins and the huge tree roots straddling the temple structures and took many pictures of them, as you can see. The last one was also taken in Cambodia and is that of a betel tree with its very ripe fruits, an unusual sight (at least for me). Enjoy!

I love your Stripes entry BT, which could also serve as an entry to the continuing Summer theme, as it's so colorful and "summery"! Also, the song Tell It Like It Is by Aaron Neville could just make my heart melt anytime :-)  Great job on the video!

While in Pittsburgh this past weekend, I took a lot of pics and going through them today, I saw one that could qualify as my entry for Stripes, so here it is, a pic of a Fish Market storefront with striped awning in the Strip district of Pittsburgh, with one of my favorite foods, raw oysters.

Hi MC, BT, and PNEH friends,

Sorry for the last-minute submissions. Similar to what MC did, I went to bed early, woke up, and realized to my horror today is the deadline and I hadn't done anything yet to fulfill my duties, including nhac kheo a la MC, euh I mean doi no. So thank you MC for the reminder, and if you all can stand a few more pictures of evening/nightime, here are my entries for this theme.

Thank you all for sharing your pictures, I've enjoyed looking at them even if I didn't have time to send comments during the day. Some stood out vividly in my memory, from yellow road stripes, colorful silk stripes, blue striped flags, purple striped eggplants (notice a theme I like? Stripes!), to adorable baby blue eyes, and a beautiful winter scene of street lamps, even if I can't remember exactly whose entries they were. With my email account at 95% capacity, I've had to delete emails with attachments as soon as I look at them and empty my trash frequently, so as not to bog down my account. I should really clean out my email but just haven't had the time to do so and keep falling further behind with each passing day.

I will be away this weekend but hopefully will try to be more timely with next week's theme.

I love the last pic of the two young women walking under the umbrella. What a sweet tender moment captured  forever on camera! The first one is quite artistic with the cool reflection of the water.

Your second entry of the closed parasol paves the way for me to submit my own Umbrella entries, some of which also show a closed umbrella, if hai ba chu blog don't mind stretching the definition of umbrellas a bit. These were all taken in Barcelona in late May. Wish I were back there walking its narrow streets...

Dear MC,

Your  "doi no" is so effective that I've had to stay up to look for summer-themed pictures to submit before the deadline comes and goes. So here are, without further ado, my summer submissions.

As BT said, when it rains, it POURS! I just didn't know where to draw the line, as summer offers limitless opportunities for fun outdoor activities and photo ops. Summer most of all conjures up for me myriad images of beach vacations, blooming flowers, mouth-watering fruits, and lazy days at the pool, so here's an assortment of pics taken over the last few summers that sum up for me what the season is all about:

- Beachgoers at Nha Trang beach

- Blooming Roses
- Sand Castles

- Tree-ripened Figs

etc. 

I hope you'll enjoy looking at the pics as much as I've enjoyed taking them!

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] My entry for RWB

It was great fun for me to watch the dance contest video and look at the pictures of the MC75 reunion. Thank you Thuan, Liem, Triet et al for taking the time to record the events with such meticulousness and sharing them with the rest of us who could not be there in person. Thuan oi, who were the three finalists? They all danced with great verve, but the gentleman especially stood out for his sense of rhythm and liberal (but joyful) interpretation of the dance moves led by Hoang.

I've enjoyed looking as well at the RWB entries submitted, which displayed your endless creativity (especially yours MC, or at least your discerning eyes, since my mental picture of Bruxelles seems to be an endless grey). I apologize for my absence from the forum the last two weeks and for not doing my job of keeping up with the nagging...I mean, reminding. Before I can start doing so however, I thought I'd better keep up my end of the bargain and submit my entry for the RWB theme. It is a collage of pictures taken this past week.

- the American flag pic was taken last weekend in OC (no, not the one in CA but our own Ocean City, where we spent a delightful holiday weekend with Thuy and Dat)

- the blueberry cheesecake squares with raspberry were made for a picnic

- red/blue/white shoes trotted out in keeping with the patriotic theme for a July 4 fireworks viewing party 

- and lastly, RWB fireworks over the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial (we had a great vantage point - a friend's penthouse)

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] Theme for the upcoming week

Dear MC,

Before I can start nagging anyone, I have to hold myself up to the mirror, so here forthwith are my submissions for last week's theme of Birds and this week's theme of Brown. I didn't realize accepting the job of Nag #3 requires me to be diligent about my own entries. No longer can I slack off until the last minute...

I couldn't make up my mind about the Brown theme so I decided to submit two entries, a collage of the amazing Gaudi architecture found in Palau Guell in Barcelona (lots of brown!) and pictures of the food I saw in the Mercat de la Boqueria in Barcelona, some kind of brown seafood and brown figs. Hope you don't mind the multiple entries.
