Re: [MC74 and Friends] theme for next week - ANACHRONISM
Dear twin BiTi, fellows PNEH, painters, poets, and art critic Mr. Kiu ,
I must admit that the whole week, after announcing the theme and seeing Tua^n', TNS, Khanh' Lie^m. Caro, Ktc 's great entries, I was under a lot of pressure to come up with pictures for the theme. I kept walking around many blocks at lunch time, looking up, down, left and right, and saw a lot of reflections and clouds (as you know by now :-)), but nothing for Anachronism.
Finally, I noticed this old wine press displayed in the window of this fancy liquor store on my way to work. So I went back at lunch time and kept trying to take a clear snapshot of it. I must have spent half an hour "loay hoay mai~ kho^ng xong". There was a lot of police keeping security in the area due to the visits of president Obama and other big shots for the opening of the UN General Assembly this week, so this policewoman standing in front of the store could not help but noticing me, and my strange behavior.
Finally, she said to me, "if I were you, I would go in and ask the store owner to let me take a picture of the thing from inside the store. He does not have a lot of business today so he may not mind. There is a lot of glares and you won't be able to avoid them. Don't be shy! you will be standing a long time here, trying to take a good picture of it..."
Well I did not follow her advice, because I did not dare to go in and ask the owner (so*. bi. mang' la\ "vo^ dzuye^n, ngu*o*i\ ta ddang e^' hang\ ma\ con\ hoi? chuye^n. vo*' va^n?") but I did take my last picture and left quickly, before she had the chance to tell me to get moving.
So here it is, my first entry for Anachronism
And finally I found some photos from my files for my second entry and my third one, which I hope fit into the theme:
-ads for an exhibition of the Chinese terra cotta soldiers in Montreal which I made into a collage.-an old building from Brussels with a Coca Cola ad.
have a wonderful weekend

[MC74 and Friends] My last entry for reflections
Dear PNEH friends,
As we had a heat wave in the bay area at the beginning of this week, I
headed for the beach and while at the Santa Cruz boardwalk looking for
anachronical characters :-) I caught this reflection in the window of
some of my favorite summer things ... the beach and the ocean, palm trees,
against some blue/white stripes, skate boards, a Panama hat :-) Summer
is officially over or is it?
Cheers,
BT

Re: [MC74 and Friends] theme for next week - ANACHRONISM
Dear 2 ba chu blog, fellow PNEH, painters, poets, Mr. Kiu, and Forum Friends,
TGIF ! And thank God for the first day of fall in the northern hemisphere. The hottest recorded summer in Texas (and for a large part of the US) has finally come to an end, although the drought still persists wreaking havoc and long term damages to our land, people, flora and fauna.
I did find a very dusty and old camera in my son’s closet and thought of the current PNEH theme. I can’t imagine taking pictures nowadays with this old camera with a roll of film of only 24 exposures, wait a day for the development to discover that possibly none of the pictures are any good, and then how to post the pictures on the blog? Picasa? Make a diaporama? Or even email them? And God forbid, photoshop them… J
Such anachronism and contrast with today’s instant gratification needs !
Enjoy your weekend !

Fw: [MC74 and Friends] theme for next week - ANACHRONISM
Hello MC, Tuan, TNS, KL, TH and friends
I have enjoyed viewing your different interpretations of the Anachronism theme, well done!
Have been traveling in Europe and in meetings all day, so I did not have the chance to walk around to scout for anachronism subjects, but I hope that these photos taken the last couple of days, walking to dinner in Cannes would blend in the theme!!!
The first picture is of this season show window of Louis Vuitton on La Croisette featuring a vintage style dress against a background of little retro chambermaids...
The 2nd picture is oil portraits of Brigitte Bardot and Mick Jagger in their heyday by a street artist
The third taken last night is of a facade with a quaint trompe l'oeil painting of an old building with its inhabitants...
Cheers

Re: [MC74 and Friends] theme for next week - ANACHRONISM
Dear Tuan & TNS, your Anachronism theme photo entries are very interesting !!!!
Dear MC, BT, BL, Mr Kiu, Hien Lan, B Diep & all Romantic PNEH friends:
Here are my photos entries for this week theme "Anachronism"....
the fist photo was taken @ the old mission of Alhambra in East Los Angeles area
Walking arount this mission, I had the feeling that this mission was inhabited by so many layers, so many ghosts
from many eras combined with the present surrounding areas,
@ the back door laid the old graveyard decorated with "cold & scary" ancient curving iron forms...
( I always get the feel for the different kinds of architecture and the different eras while visiting old, ancient or
historical cities... Don't you? )
the second photo was @ the renaissance fair in Los Angeles area where I took my kids to sample the foods,
watching old Shakespeare plays & having fun,
it's pretty interesting to listen to people talking with the old English accent all around us...
you could click here to find out about the fair:
Enjoy the rest of the week,
Cheers from Liem

[MC74 and Friends] My entry for Reflections
Dear fellow PNEHetEV, Mr Kiu and friends,
Here are my entries (ha ... I you thought I only had 1 photo :-))
1. Reflection of the Place des Vosges Arcade seen on a beautiful day
after some free drinks caused by a fire ( H Lan do you remember? :-))
2 and 3 are Reflections on Monet's Lily Pond (not sure how the wide
angle would come out so I just sent both to be safe)
4. Reflections of Marilyn Monroe in a shop window in Cabourg
5. Reflections in Hearst's pool (the only things I like about Hearst castle
are the pools and the orange trees :-))
That's it for now *J*
Have a great Weekend,

[MC74 and Friends] My entry on the theme of "Reflections"
Dear Triplets and fellow PNEH-ers,
Here's a picture of the Charles Bridge in Prague at night. It came out a little blurry, but I always liked the composition so I "salvaged" it by turning it into a watercolor painting (with software, since I lack Thu Huong's immense talent!). Enjoy.

Dear Romantic Friends & PNEH
Here is my entry for this week theme " Reflections"
I just like to share our wonderful experience while
we went pick-nicking at this lake @ " Franklin Park" in Hollywood, CA
This park was famous for the old "TV - the Andy Griffith Show" & many TV shows in the past
& it's very pleasant to walk around the lake as well
Have a Happy Wednesday dear PNEH & Friends,

Re: [MC74 and Friends] Theme for next week - REFLECTIONS
Hello Kim Huong, PNEH and friends
C'est vraiment grandiose.
Apres TNS and Kim Huong, tout devient banal,

REFLECTIONS of my life - Marmalade
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WjK4chPb-4
The changing
Of sunlight to moonlight
Reflections of my life
Oh how they fill my eyes
The greetings
Of people in trouble
Reflections of my life
Oh how they fill my eyes
All my sorrows
Sad tomorrows
Take me back to my own home
All my cryings ...

Re: [MC74 and Friends] my entries for CONTRASTS ... Ouf :-) once more
Em Ci Dearie,
It feels SOOOOOO good, like back in school when you finally got your
homework done, at work when you got your stupid status report completed hi hi
In fact thua thang xong len (just had to wait for the sprinkler to stop) I went out and
took this pic hoping to show the contrast between the full bloom Princess
Plant flower, the bud and the thing that's left over at the end (what is it called? :-))
all on the same branch...
What is blooming in your garden now? are the birdies coming back to chirp up
a storm? :-)
XOXO,
BT

[MC74 and Friends] my entries for CONTRASTS ... Ouf :-)
When the going gets tough ... the tough turns to the .... kitchen
just now to cook up some contrast :-) My 1st entry is called,
"contrast the pepper mills" :-) One is from the 60s (square design)
one from the 90s (round design). Guess which one works better?
My 2nd entry is "surprising contrast" which gave us quite a kick that day.
The hot dog (call it any fancy name you want ) came served in a covered
silver thing whilst the server made a show of it all to the stupid tourists :-)
And the last entry is ' hands in contrast' on the wall of a local restaurant.
Cheers,
BT
