Hi all,
Action photography is always one of my strong interest, and thus my
success rate of "freezing movement" is not too bad so far. On the
other hand, "showing movements" of fast moving subjects is always
challenging. The technique I usually used is "panning": pan your
camera along the same direction with your subject & matching the speed
of your subject. This technique is quite challenging & tough to master
(it's very easy for your main subject is not in focus due to the slow
shutter speed), but we always get rewarded when our attempts are
successful.
Here are some pictures employing this technique. The first 2 captured
in Vietnam, circa 2010 & the birds were captured in 2012.

ReplyDeleteHello Tri
Such spectacular, visually rewarding shots,
remarkable pictures that conveyed a joyful lightness to the Movement, either at close range, or in close up look
The bike rider zippily zooming along on the open road,
the merchant nonchalently going about his usual business,
the featherly light vision of the bird taking to the air,
the flowingly smooth flight evoking of artistic elegance
All the unique, distinctive moments worth capturing,
that gave substance to the thrill of motion
Cheers
Quang
All I can say is WOW!

SUPERB! I love all the photos. Thank you Tri'. I tried panning a few times, but found it so difficult, I could not turn my body at the same speed as the moving subject.
